You are admitting to working to limit the choices of the students in your school. It’s entirely possible that some students would benefit more from volleyball than music and it's a good thing for them to have that option.
Someone once posted on this board that they had to deal with a coach who assumed that if there was a conflict between sports and music, of course sports came first. The band director had to talk to the coach and explain to him that there was absolutely not such an assumption, and any conflicts between sports and music activities would have to be worked out on a case by case basis.
Let's hope the volleyball coach doesn’t post to his forum lamenting that he hasn't been completely successful in suppressing music education and can anyone advise him how big a problem music is to the athletic department.
