Why are you spending money setting up your workspace? The district provides you chairs, stands, music, instruments, and sound equipment. Anything outside of that is your choice so I don't think that is a valid discussion point.
Nobody expects you to be on call 100% of the time. NOBODY. It's really easy. Don't put your work email on your personal phone. If you do, turn off notifications at 6 PM. Respond to any parent emails the next morning. It isn't rocket science here. I want a vet on call 24 hours in case of emergencies. I want an emergency room available 24 hours a day. At no point in my career where I had a hard time shutting down (personal flaw), did I ever feel the need to respond to an email at 9 pm.
Teachers are those things only because they want to be. They don't have to be nor do I know a single principal in my career that ever expected any of those things either.
