To me this looks like requirements for a "School Bus Driver", not a teacher who occasionally drives a bus. I see this as a 'slippery slope' to get more people to get their CDL's in my district. (A huge point on contention for many of us)
If anyone has experience or insight, please chime in. For the record, I do not plan on participating.
Please see the information below regarding Department of Public Safety requirements.
Attached are the following admin rules which are applicable to a school bus multifunction school activity bus and school activity bus:
TAC 14.12 – Medical Qualifications (valid medical card)
TAC 14.14 – Minimum Driving Record Qualifications (penalty points tables)
TAC 14.31 – Applicability of the Safety Training Program (20hr & 8hr bus driver certification course)
TAC 14.1 – Definitions (defines a school bus driver operating a school bus, school activity bus and multifunction school activity bus)
The rules can be found at the following website: https://texreg.sos.state.tx.us/public/readtac$ext.ViewTAC?tac_view=4&ti=37&pt=1&ch=14
