2) Let's take that amount of $10,500. Even in a 'cheaper' private school, that is not going to cover the full cost of tuition. That means this will be taken advantage more of by those of higher socio economic standing than anyone else.
3) State funding for Texas is based on pupils/attendance. If you see a mass exodus from public schools there will inevitably be less funding for the schools. Additionally it will directly pull funding from public schools. Particularly for rural schools this will be a hit that they may not recover from.
America has this great tradition of providing an education to EVERYONE. We don't send kids out of our schools because they aren't successful, we tend to work to get everyone to the finish line as much as possible. This is very different from most other places in the world. If we go down this voucher road it'll be a further move to privatize schools in general. Just as a point there, anything that's gone down that path has not been good for anyone other than those at the top.
Those pushing this are essentially getting kickbacks, donations, and support to dismantle public education. This is not about the students.
