Re: Bias against military bands at smc
I haven't seen ordinals, but I was at an Area contest many years ago that had a military-style band. They were first from both marching judges, which was appropriate, and last from each music judge, which was also appropriate. Look at the criteria on the UIL sheets and it all makes sense.
Spring Hill got 2nd at their area against north lamar by only a little. They beat lcm, paris, and lumberton, all corps bands... At state having their best performance, no mistakes, amazing music, and perfect lines,got 17th place. They were behind all the bands they beat at area.
China springs got 20th at state despite having an amazing performance as well.
Why is there such a basis against military bands?
