Bari Sax all the way...the range of a Bari is closer to that of a bassoon than most bass clarinet (players). A Bari Sax is far more agile than a bass clarinet which is typically needed for bassoon parts (large jumps). Use a dark small mouthpiece, vandoren BL3. Read the part as is, just add three sharps to the key...don't forget to change accidentals the correct way.
I have a Woodwind quintet I want to do for my holiday concert but it calls for a bassoon, which I don't have. What woodwind can I sub for this instrument??? or any suggestions...
