You sound so much like me...it’s actually crazy how much of our stories are similar. I agree with the poster above: you need documentation, and you need to report the things that you feel are completely out of line. Others on here might disagree with me, but it’s NOT okay for an HD to make you feel like this—particularly if certain conversations in the office make you uncomfortable. If you’re not comfortable taking things to further action, at least find someone on your campus that you can confide in—which, I mean, can be difficult, because school gossip is the worst—but still. Just having someone to express your frustration and anger and whatever else you might feel would be a good place to start. Beyond that...don’t give HD the satisfaction of seeing you upset or not in a good head space because of him; do the best that you can for the kids (because they deserve it), and then at the end of this year, get the hell out of that place. I did, and my mental health (and physical health) is SO much better for it. If you want, you can post a throwaway email and we can talk more about your situation.
