Try having her play on just the Mouthpiece and Barrel to check her tuning. Often beginner clarinets will have their tongue placed too low in their mouth, as others have said here. Rather than an "ah" or "oh" syllable, clarinetists should use an "eeeeh" syllable.
As for articulation, they should aim for the "top of the tip of the reed with the top of the tip of the tongue". The contact point should aim for the "edge" of the reed, rather than the underside. After articulating, the tongue should return to the "eeeeeh" syllable. Beginners often fail to do this, which makes them flat after articulating.
