Re: Good schools to get Masters in conducting/music ed?
I bring this up every time this post comes up. Just something to consider.
Why do you want a Masters degree in either?
Personal professional growth in my field. I earned my Masters and although it didn't help that much pay-wise or necessarily make me a better teacher, it to me was worth every penny as I definitely benefited and grew personally, professionally and musically which still affects me today even in retirement with the music activities in which I participate at this stage of life. For me it definitely was not throwing money away.
Is this for everybody? Definitely not. But for those like me who place a high value on continuing to learn more about that which is related to my craft it's worth everything.
Everything posted is correct and good advice, but I simply take issue with discouragement in the earning of higher levels of our craft and going for an advanced degree.
The dollar is a lot, but it's not everything. I say this with the most respect.
