Re: Cold Rehearsals
Much thanks! I was tough on them this morning and picked up our pace and tried to move as much as possible. However, they didn't end fired up, but maybe our next rehearsal we will see what we can do!!
To be honest, you're gonna think I sound mean.
When adversity sits in on a rehearsal I bear down and push the hay out of them. Anybody who goes outside when it's 45 or below has the natural instinct to want to not be their best (they'd rather be asleep.). But, it's our job to get the best out of every kid. I'm hard as snot on them from the first second they are falled in by their drum major and usually by the end everybody is not mad at me but rather fired up and ready to produce awesome stuff. When I was young I let their natural instinct affect me. No longer do I allow this. Keep pushing those kids. The hard week they put in now will be the memories they have and cherish from their days in marching band. Teach with passion. You'll also love the results you get from your contests.
