Call me crazy, but I think you either entirely misread "2A School"'s post (if you read it at all) or meant to reply to someone else in the thread (or possibly the OP himself).
No. You are responsible for the kids the entire time they are at the activity. You assume added liability not keeping you kids monitored during the 3rd quarter and in this sue em culture you are putting yourself at risk, not to mention putting the kids at risk. Plus, while many of us complain about it, we are at games to support the FB team. If it were not for FB many of us would not be able to have the programs and support we have.
I am in my third year here, and 3rd quarter break is the first thing I changed. I hate it for the many reasons others have posted and I feel it is our job to support the team (even if they aren't that good...lol). We feed the kids before every game and I have my boosters prepare snack bags for the kids after halftime. There was some whining the first year, but once the kids saw how much the crowd and team appreciated them for playing the whole game, it has been fully accepted now.
