It was pretty bad to one side. I think before braces it might have been a touch off center but nothing like what it is now.
How much to one side? A lot of great players play with an un-centered mouthpiece. I went to school with a 2-time 1st chair all-state trumpet, and his mouthpiece was always to the right of center. I play somewhat that way, but it is not as obvious with tuba. It depends on the shape of the student's mouth, how his face, jaw, and teeth are shaped. He is unconsciously finding the most comfortable place for his mouthpiece. If he is playing well, I wouldn't worry about it. And it might change when he gets the braces off, anyway.
