Re: Bell-Front Marching Tubas
I'm marching 4 sousaphones right now, and expect to march 5 next year. We only have 4, and one of them is in the shop more than its on the field. Since I'm facing needing to buy 2 just to put 5 good sousas on the field next year, I'm just wondering if now isn't the perfect time to switch over.
I find that the Contra/Marching Tuba is good if you have more than 3 or 4 of them. Their sound is much more focused that that of a Sousa. I'm at a 1A, and we had one... Decided that I didn't want it and just bought a sousaphone. For my situation, it was the better choice. If you have a large band and know you'll have a lot of tubas, I would say give it a try.
Hope this helps!

Have you used them? What are the advantages/disadvantages vs. Sousaphones?
