Re: Clarinets Crossing the Break
I had an exercise for crossing the break. First. the kids would play the low C. Then without stopping the air, they (or I) would open the register key. The higher G should pop out. After they were successful, we would individually add each finger in the right hand. Then, we would add each pinky. They will not be able to play each new note. I tell them if the note doesn't speak, wiggle your fingers to make sure that the holes are completely covered. I would demonstrate each note before they played.
My JH Clarinets are having a hard time crossing the break. Specifically going from A to B or A to C.....They can get D and higher no problem though.
Are there any exercises or anything else I can use to help them out with that? Especially something that would help while in the full band setting
