Woodwinds and Humidity
Posted by Scientist on 10/4/2018, 4:33 am
So I live in a very wet climate and my instrument storage location is not climate controlled. Therefore, I have been having issues for the past year (it's only my second year here) with pads and corrosion of instruments. I am about to give a presentation to my school board about why my instruments need to be in a climate controlled area and was informed of one key question they will be asking and I'm having a hard time finding info. The question- What exact relative humidity is required for instruments to be stored properly? I know the right answer is 0, but they are looking for a maximum. And please understand that I am a band director for many reasons, one of which is that I was always terrible at Science. Thanks in advance!
