I know band directors that make well over 100K now - great, they are worth it. However, so are the middle and small school directors that make half of that!
I gave my life to my work and I paid money so that when I retired I would NOT have to work or worry about paying my bills or buying food... yes, I fill entitled because I paid my share and I did the work and gave the State of Texas a lot more than they ever gave me.
I'm happy you have so much money that you can put some into other things, most teachers do not and those of us that taught for peanuts (I started in 1969) and a pat on the back, NEVER had anything 'extra'.
Maybe you can tell I am trying to be really nice in my comments... but your attitude is what is wrong with the system. All my life I was taught that if you work hard and you pay your 'dues' then you can retire and enjoy life and not worry. It is not entitlement, it is pay back of what you have earned.
