Re: Affordable Finale/Sibelius
For the price (free) Musescore is a fantastic option. I was not able to get Finale at my current school and reluctantly downloaded MuseScore 2. With a MIDI keyboard I can now input and quickly edit a part much faster than I could ever hand write it. I don't know how long it's been since you've used it, but the current version is as good or better than Finale was just a few years ago, and it's always improving.
I really don't like musescore. It's clunky and lets too many things automatically slide, like spacing and collisions. Unless you're used to looking for and fixing these things, you can unknowingly hand a jumbled mess to your kids.
But. You can get the top tier of Sibelius for a monthly fee. They give an educator/student discount that makes it quite affordable.
Does anyone know the most affordable way to purchase Finale/Sibelius? Or even have an alternative to the two, for simple writing? I front one of the concert bands, and I need to keep my percussion more active. I would like to rewrite music parts and warm-ups for them. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
