Re: Clarinet and Flute Beginners
For clarinet, you’re looking for a slightly sharp F# (concert) on mouthpiece + barrel. I highly recommend Paula Corley’s book “So You Want to Play Clarinet” which comes in both student & teacher editions—the beginning of the book has great pictures and things to help get your students set up correctly.
Ok, I'm a brass player who needs help. I'm starting my clarinets/flutes on mouthpiece/head joint.
What do you tell your flute players to setup their embouchure? What strategies or items do you use that works to make sure the embouchure is set right?
For clarinet, I understand the basics (firm) and what not? But what do I look for when teaching students to setup embouchure? What note should the student match when playing on a barrel mouthpiece?
For alto sax, what note should the student match when on neck and mouthpiece only? or do I do this with mouthpiece only??
Help is appreciated!!
