Re: NHS vs. Marching Band
We give Wednesdays off, except for the last couple of weeks of competitive season. School does tutoring on Wednesdays, and since NHS kids usually don't have to go to tutoring, they have their meeting. Plus athletics does a "late start" on Wednesdays. Really though there is no need for that many meetings!
For the first time in my career I am having serious conflicts with our NHS sponsor. I am having kids come tell me they can’t be in band because they have to “choose” NHS or Band. Their meetings are during after school practice (once per month for members and 3-4 times per month for officers). Their service projects are on Saturdays (contest days).
Anyone else having this issue? I have tried talking to the sponsor and it has gone nowhere.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
