Re: compensation for unused state sick days
I retired in 2011 and had 120 days that all I could do with was give them to the sick day bank! A few years ago I ran for school board to stay involved with the kids and was elected. One of the policies I was able to pass was to pay retiring teachers for their unused days. There was lots of support from our local retired teachers. Through negotiation, we passed a policy that pays $25 a day for a maximum of $750. Not much but at least it's more than I got! There are a lot of districts that don't pay for anything. It is ENTIRELY up to the district!
Do retirees get any compensation for unused state sick days? (I am not interested in buying them back.)
