Re: compensation for unused state sick days
Maybe. It depends on your last district's policy on this as it varies. My last district requires that you have to have spent a minimum of 5 years in the district before you retire. But they only give $25 for each state day. Nothing for local days.
But a former band director colleague who retired from a neighboring large suburban district retired with his last district giving him his full daily rate for all of his state days and he wound up getting over $16,000 for his state days.
Some places give you nothing. It depends on each individual district's policy.
Do retirees get any compensation for unused state sick days? (I am not interested in buying them back.)
