Re: NHS vs. Marching Band
Something doesn’t feel right about this. What about students that are involved in athletics, cheer, theatre just to name a few. Surely marching band isn’t the only thing going on at that time. Are they having service projects every single Saturday in the fall and do they take up the entire day? What is the point of so many meetings? What are they meeting about and why does it need to be so often? I have NEVER heard of a NHS chapter taking up so much time. It’s definitely time to talk to admin about this situation.
For the first time in my career I am having serious conflicts with our NHS sponsor. I am having kids come tell me they can’t be in band because they have to “choose” NHS or Band. Their meetings are during after school practice (once per month for members and 3-4 times per month for officers). Their service projects are on Saturdays (contest days).
Anyone else having this issue? I have tried talking to the sponsor and it has gone nowhere.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
