Re: TBA clinics-badge?
There are monitors present at each TBA clinics and they are looking to see if you have your badge. It is best to pay the convention registration fee as this helps TBA offset the cost of putting on awesome clinics and conventions. If you are going to be a 1st year teacher this Fall, you can get a discounted membership and convention fee.
I once went to a clinic without a badge, but it was because I left it in the car. But, I have been at clinics where they do ask that if you are not a member (i.e. have a badge) to please leave as the clinics are for paid members.
Personally, I don't think it is right to benefit from something that everyone else there has willingly paid for (either on their own of through their school's budget).
...the only time anyone has checked my badge at TBA or TMEA is when I go to the exhibit floor. The only time I have seen anyone at the door of a clinic is when they are providing the handouts. I don't know of anyone who has gone to a clinic without their badge, or if anyone has been refused entry, but it is possible that it has occurred.
Do you have to have a TBA badge to attend the clinics, or can anyone go in to hear the presentations?
