This is to be expected. I send resumes and cover letters and don't EVER get a response unless it is to set up an interview. I think it must be policy to not acknowledge the existence of any other email. I get your frustration, but if I were a director, I wouldn't want to spend hours responding to every single email inquiry. The only way to keep myself from doing this would be to say I won't respond to ANY of them.
It irritates me to no end when you email a head high school band director or fine arts director and ask if a position has been filled, and they donít have the common curtesy to at least respond to the applicant and let him or her know. Thank you, that is all!
