Keep in mind you only have I believe five times to take it and you’re done.
I am at the point to where I am not sure if I should keep trying to be a band director or move on. I have two years of teaching (junior high assisting hs) under my belt and I was able to take a low performing band and have success (121 on stage UIL second year...they hadn't gone in a lonnng time). I have great connection with the kids and I was able to make an impact. I enjoy teaching and interacting with the kids, but I am at the point to where I am not sure if I can keep failing. I have taken the Texas Music Content test 3 times now (I know) and I have yet to be able to pass. I have been 4 points away from passing and I have had directors tell me to try again, but I am not sure if it is a lost cause. I feel I have a lot to offer as a director and can really help students be successful, but I am not sure if I am beating a dead horse. And I have the thought of just because I'm good at something doesn't mean I have to do it. There are other avenues I could go, just trying to figure out my next step. I appreciate all advice and thank you for your time.
