Interestingly.. I had an interview last week where the principal specifically stated that they weren't looking for someone who would just "say yes."
And that is what makes interviewing difficult. Everyone is looking for something different. Often complete opposite philosophies. What may be one person's legit advice, would be what keeps them from the job somewhere else.
Here’s why. A lot of today’s people doing the interviewing are looking for cheap and/or someone whom they perceive will be a yes man or woman or someone who will not be better than them. They arent sincerely looking for the best teacher, they are looking for someone whom they feel they can control. Yes there are some exceptions,but not many. Especially in the small schools or large urban schools. In those two settings, administrators are typically afraid of parents and those are the two settings where parents love to nitpick and complain. Just my observation as one who is now retired and is on the outside looking in.
