Re: Stressed out over assistants leaving
Looking for a new school district to commit to!
Hey. Iím not sure what advice Iím looking for here. I guess some reassurance that things will be ok, because Iím so stressed out itís making me sick. Iím the high school director at a small 3a school. I have been here for 10 years now. During the 10 years I have had to hire 4 different middle school directors. Iím currently on the 4th one, and she is in her first year here. Each of them not staying any longer than 2 years (my first few years I was the only director). Anyway, my current assistant may now be leaving. Sheís in the running for a bigger and better position. Iím really happy for her, but itís gotten to the point where I want to just give up. I canít keep anyone for more than a year or two at the middle school. Because of this I canít seem to get the middle school program going successfully. It seems like once things start looking up I have to hire a new director and then weíre starting all over again. I love teaching at this school, and plan on staying here for a long time. I just donít know how to handle the constant revolving door with the middle school director position. I donít blame anyone for wanting to leave. Its a small school and a small town. All I get is new teachers right out of college and they arenít looking to stay. How do I deal with this so it doesnít keep hurting my middle school program? Thank you
