Honestly, from experience, how you should feel about it depends on who they DO end up hiring. If this new guy has more experience, a record of success, etc, this could be a great thing for everyone involved. Working with a good head director makes you a better teacher in the long run.
However, if you are passed over for someone "less than", it could go either way. If new guy is a disaster and you stick it through, show competence, and hold things together behind the scenes, it could be your foot in the door when he doesn't last.
--Previous Message-- : Hello YB so here is the situation, : : I am at a fairly small 3A in a very rural : town. My HD and I have both been here only : for 1 year. My HD is leaving for many : different reasons. I have applied for the : Head job and I am still hoping that I will : get the top job however it looks like there : is a chance I will get passed over for a new : director coming in. : : Again, I am only in my first year here and I : am relatively young in my career. Is it : normal to get passed over in this situation? : If I do get passed over should I be offended : and take it as not being respected by the : district and be looking for a new job or is : this a fairly normal thing in this situation : and stick it out? : : My head is just reeling in this situation : and I need some guidance :
