I'm at a 2A. We have about 30% of the high school in the band program, make consistent sweepstakes, and have unwavering support from the administration. They expect the band to be big and successful and give me the budget and preferential scheduling I need to make it happen. If the band started getting smaller and getting 2's, I'm quite sure that they would show me the door. I've also busted my butt politically to get the superintendent, principal, school board, and athletic director on my side and to be fans of what we are doing. There are bad administrators out there at all levels, but this is not an automatic problem at all small schools in my experience.
--Previous Message-- : So everyone please tell me again how much : administrators will get on board with your : band program (small schools 1A/2A) when you : get the numbers up and make sweepstakes. I : never saw it happen in my career. Instead I : experienced the same issues as the OP. :
