Yes, I taught in an urban/low socioeconomic school setting-it was my choice and I loved it. As a music teacher and a professional educator, I suppose I should be altruistic here and wonder why any teacher would seriously describe their own teaching as awful and their organization as meaningless and insignificant? In my situation it was very important to recruit the best and most committed students and parents to my program. Very often it was negativity expressed about the band program and how "hard" it was by others, including teachers, that made that happen.
I would be tempted to go right up to her, shake her hand and thank her. With her attitude and comments, she is enabling me to have the best recruiting classes I've ever enjoyed.
Her principal probably already knows how awful she is. I wouldn't go there.
