All it takes is one disgruntled kid to take aim at you and your career is tainted and possibly over. Even if you get cleared of any accusations, the stain on you remains which is enough to create doubt by any future potential employer.
I've always gone by the old adage that you can never fully trust a kid, especially when it can affect your career.
In this day and age no one can really afford to have anything that even hints at any impropriety with students. Unfortunately, in this area it usually winds up the teacher being seen as guilty until proven innocent. That's just the way it is.
: Does he enjoy this career? Does he want to
: keep being able to do this job? This is more
: about protecting himself than anything else.
: If he does not realize the number of
: teachers - used to be mostly male, but you
: ladies are catching up - that lose their
: jobs and sometimes careers over
: 'relationships' with students, he needs to
: wake up quick. It does not have to be true
: to destroy you. He may be friends with these
: kids now, but what happens when he does
: something as a teacher that upsets them?
: There are online tutorials for kids on how
: to get rid of your teacher through
: accusations of inappropriate behavior. If
: you put yourself in a position (i.e. alone
: with a group of kids in an amusement park)
: where you can't defend yourself you are
: asking for trouble. Even if you end up
: proving you are innocent, you are pretty
: much toast in that community/school and will
: have to leave.
: Bring a book, hang out with the
: chaperones/other directors, and come back
: with your adult friends to let your hair
: down. Or start figuring out what your next
: career will be.
