As long as band directors are only posting anonymously on the board, nothing will ever change. All of the yelling, all of the complaining, all of the injustice--and the counter reaction from "old timers" like myself...if there are so-called "powers that be," then they have you right where they want you. This is true now, and it has been true since the very first "what the ___ was that we just read" post almost 20 years ago. Think about it...20 years of blah blah blah back and forth about sightreading, and the problem is still there.
I don't mind. It's often entertaining and sometimes upsetting...but always completely ineffective. Stop posting on the board, step up, go to your administrators, talk to your parents, rage against the machine, whatever you think will fit you best. That's how you get the wheels turning.
: Just over-teach your kids how to sight read
: within the parameters that corespond with
: their reading level/classification and the
: “hard sight reading songs” will not
: challenge them.
: I find it interesting that people never post
: how EASY the sight reading is/was at this
: time of year.
: GO TEACH!!!!
