Yes, but as you are well aware only 6A percussion students are worthy of TSSEC because the big chunk of the collegiate percussion instructors are more interested in the "prestige" of having kids from Big Time 6A schools in their studios instead of just having really good players period. I had a really good percussionist who went to state on a marimba solo and got a 1 on it. At TBA, I went to talk to college programs about this kid, and on three occasions this is how those conversations went down:
"I have a percussion student who is interested in coming to your program."
"Have they been to TSSEC?"
"Yes, they earned a 1 on a marimba solo this May."
"Who is there private lesson instructor?"
"Who did you study with?"
"I'm a Horn player."
"Huh? How big is your high school?"
"PFFFT...what did they play...Yellow After the Rain? Sorry, I'm only interested in kids that are from 5A or 6A schools."
Besides, when "We" revamped the list, there was the obligatory Token Small School Guy on the committee...so "We" did listen to you!
