This seems to be par for the course for JW students. I've had several JW students in band over the past 20 years (in three different district in three different parts of the state) and they always seem to wait until last minute to tell me. One was my first chair clarinet play who had a solo. They told me the Friday before the Monday concert they were not going to participate. The funny thing is that all of these students played the concert (the themed holiday music and non-holiday themed music) music without saying a word. My guess is that this student also played all the music everyday without saying a word, too.
: Good Morning.
: I work in a predominantly
: Catholic/Baptist/Methodist part of Texas,
: and have been here 10 years. I have had 0
: experience dealing with students that are
: Jehovah's Witness, but yesterday had a
: parent contact me about our Christmas
: It turns out that their family are JW, and
: they don't want their child to participate
: in the Christmas Concert. My question is,
: what do y'all use for alternative
: assignments? The concert is in 3 days, and
: they just decided to share this info with
: I've never had to do this before, so I'm at
: a total loss. Thanks in advance!
