Wash your hands constantly. Keep in mind how many times you come in contact with students mouthpieces, reeds, sticks, door handles, sink handles, etc. I start drinking hot tea when I get sick and guzzle it by the gallon load those days. Between the heavy caffeine and the warm water it seems to help me function through rough days. As others have said in your first years you are going to constantly catch stuff.
My first year the most impressive one was when I went into the doctor for pink eye (first time I'd ever had it...) and was told, 'Do you know you have strep too?'
Just get through it the best you can and know it does get better the longer you teach. If you ever move a good distance away know that process restarts in the new area with the new variants too. Good luck!
