If your administration requires you to participate, that is a whole other issue entirely.
And to answer "Drama's" question, no they do not record One Act contest.
They are allowed to video a dress rehearsal for archival purposes only. That's not UIL's ruling, that is typical copyright guidelines for plays/musicals.
We can video our marching shows all we want, as long as it is not at a UIL sanctioned event which includes football games.
So there is the way around it. Have a full dress run, you can video that and review it.
Now,is it nice to get a professional recording when it counts? Yes. And I wish we could keep doing what we were doing, but that's how the world works at the moment.
