Option 1: Set your window to "show rulers" permanently -Extract parts -Go to Page Layout -Reduce the size of the page to 83% (so says Finale) -Then move the margins to like 1/4 inch on the left, and to 6 3/4 on the right -Then use the staff tool (treble clef) to move the staves up. You can move all or only the top one. -Use the mass edit to even out the measures per system. (you can also use Ctrl + M and set equal numbers. -Check your rulers. The bottom should be at about 5 inches to fit the folder. -It will take a bit of practice, but you have the essentials now.
-Under File go to print set up go to properties and layout -go to landscape then pick 2 parts per page.
-Files-->Print-->Setup-->Properties-->Layout -choose Landscape and 2 pages per sheet
-Make sure the finale parts are in landscape or it will print weird. Then somewhere in the print properties there is reduce to 65%. That is what I do.
If you print in landscape full size. You can easily reduce on copier by 64%. Just like you enlarge small marches to 81/2 x 11, you can reduce 81/2 x 11 to 5 1/2 x 7.
-In the setup wizard under engraved style/ band / marching band -It will then set the paper to Octavo and will have notes at the top of the score to tell you how to make it work right.
File > Extract Parts Click on "Manage Parts" Delete all the parts Click on "Part Creation Preferences..." Click on "Page Format for Parts" Under "Page Size" Change width to 7 and Height to 5.5 and scale page to 80% or 85% to make the music smaller, but still readable.
: G'day mates!
: On finale 2014, how do you make the
: extracted parts shrink to fit into flip
: folders? Is there a more simpler way to do
: this rather than using trial and error to
: make it smaller using the page layout tool?
