Past Due Repair bills

I got an invoice earlier this Spring that caught me totally off guard. To make matters worse, we did not have enough funds in our budget to pay the bill. I did speak with my principal about it but we never got around to getting the matter resolved at that point. The next few months were incredibly busy and I'm just now getting back to trying to figure out what to do. Band boosters may be able to help, but have not heard back from them. Have any of you been in a similar situation? If so, what options did you take. I'm also trying to see if the company can wait until September to be paid. They are our main vendor that we use and they've already served our Spring beginner drive. There are several factors in why this happened that I simply had no control over, but I'm the one who has to figure this out since I'm the head director on my JHS campus. Hoping someone can put my mind at ease before I go in to my principal to discuss this.
