It isn't about a character going into a direction one doesn't like. This is about someone who claims to be a fan of the character and outright lies to all the actual fans of the character.
It would be one thing as well if Jessica Drew had been Spider-Woman again for years and then this happens and is sent off as a hero like any other character.
It would be one thing if Jessica Drew was actually treated with respect as any other character of Marvel.
But Bendis just outright lied to fans for years! He then says he was sooo sorry, and that he hated doing it, but he went ahead anyway, and has given Jessica Drew fans nothing back but more lies.
Marvel would never have done this with Spider-Man, for instance. It can be argued that this gave Jessica higher status in the sense that she was the one the Skrulls felt could do the most damage, but overall, there's nothing for Spider-Woman fans, but words and more words that mean nothing.
If Marvel really cares about the character, or at least the fans, they should do something to prove it.
True, we got a special, and a mini-series, but we also got majorly shafted.
We may not own the character, but Jessica Drew, to her true fans, is a cherished character, and someone who is "rea."
We gave money for years to Marvel for comic books and what have you believing that character was "our" Jessica, and then we get a slap in the face.
Hopefully, Bendis will bring her back on some level, or give her a send off with real respect ... something that is truly felt throughout the Marvel Universe.
It would be cool that if not in the mainstream universe, that they could at least put a Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman (perhaps the one seen in Iron Man Adventures) in New Exiles, or something like that.
In any case, the point is that although I don't necessarily want Bendis to lose family members, but something would happen for him to feel the hurt that true Jess fans do. That it isn't cool to play with people.
Maybe Jess fans aren't as many as Wolverine or Spider-Man, but we should still be treated with respect and we haven't been.
That's why I ask that anyone who cares about Jessica Drew or cares about fellow fans, would at the very least boycott Marvel. Quit giving them even more money when that's all they seem to care about ... not the fans who help keep their company strong.

: This is fiction after all. If a writer

: Think about it if you were in his shoes.
: He's writing a story and character the best

: lose everything you hold dear (friends,
