I posted this on the Avenger's board too, and figured I'd put it up here too. I'm curious as to what you all think.
So I just read New Avengers 42 and I have a theory about where this is going. At issue's end Skrull Queen Veranke as Spider-Woman is on Genosha, just as the famous House of M Wipeout effect hits, and the world goes white. Now, as I recall, in the House of M reality, Jessica Drew was a member of SHIELD, and was with the main squad of good guys when they realigned reality, correct? Well, I'm thinking that the House of M Jessica Drew was the real deal, not the Skrull Queen, because I imagine that Wanda's powers would have seen through any shapechanging illusions ( I mean, she did restore Wolvie's memories, and resurrected and /or killed a whole slew of characters).
So, after the no-more-mutants reset, when everybody awoke back in their respective places, the real Jessica must have done so to, presumably, like everyone else who had been there at the final battle, with full awareness of what had occurred. So what happened next? Did, as I suspect, Jessica at some point take out the Skrull Queen, and begin posing as the Skrull Queen posing as herself? To the best of my knowledge, we haven't seen the Queen shift shape since she first took the role, and Jessica has green eyes anyway. Or is Jessica out there somewhere secret, maybe working with Fury? I don't think Bendis would have Fury screw up his intel so bad as to be unwittingly working with a Skrull- Spider-Woman all this time. What do you think?
One more thing: I bet we have enough of the Skrull language code now to do some translations. I bet the untranslated Skrull dialogue contains some hints. Has anyone worked that out yet?
