Honestly, from a story standpoint, this is a very creepy turn of events. From the whole HYDRA set up being a ruse to the obviously ceremonial overtones of Veranke "becoming" Jessica Drew. What was that that was draped over her face? Was it Jessica's blood, soaked in cloth or maybe...flayed skin?!? Usually Skrulls just "shapeshift" into their counterparts but this..this HAS to mean something, aside from Veranke being the queen bee of the Skrulls.
The obvious religious and ceremonial overtones have to mean something, hopefully more then Jessica totally biting the bullet. If that's the case, I'm done and gone. But I don't think so. if it's magic and it doesn't have to be explained...well, Jessica has some magic aces off in the wild blue yonder..I hope.
