Another thing to consider is that at this point, she is just shown the hologram of Spider-Woman. There is nothing to say that she was replaced. And I know, like you, people have been whining saying that it would "explain" how she almost killed Wolverine in the Savage Land in the first isues of New Avengers,but we know that's crap and something she could have done easily.
The fanboy in me and probably you and others is thinking it out like this: the Skrull empress tracked down Spider-Woman, tried to kill her and got iced. Spider-Woman don't play around, remember. And I would not be shocked if Veranke was too proud to not have a Skrull hitsquad with her to take down Jessica, as she thought she could take her down by studying her.
Of course, this is all abject speculation.
