Apparently, at some point in the mid-90's, Bendis had a pitch set for Marvel West Coast for a new Jessica Drew series. But Marvel was just entering bankruptcy at that time, and the West Coast division of Marvel shut down(kinda like the West Coast Avengers, I guess?), and that was that until ALIAS comes out in the early 00's. Interesting rendition of Spider-Woman.
The article mentions how ALIAS was supposed to be about Jessica Drew and how it was not supposed to be about Jessica Drew, but I can see the parallels between Jessica Jones and Jessica Drew; depowered female heroines in a world of powers. It probably was not a coincidence to put Ms. Marvel as a friend of both of the Jessica's, I'd bet.
