During a recent trip through Germany, a shop keeper in Osterberg, brought out a Goldsmith No. 82 Softball Bat explaining that his father was given the bat by Americans GI's on their way to Berlin in 1945. I have been looking for the history of Goldsmith and of course the possible value of the bat. Anyway it was a great story about the GI's playing and teaching young German kids the game.
