WEIRD! Follow up to my Sim death...

Now this is really freaky. I took the two urns outside and made a nice little place with flowers in the yard for my two deceased Sims. The headstones kept disappearing and showing up as urns back in the house in various places. The Sims still living keep going out in the yard and jumping and screaming like they are scared. Now one of the urns has permanantly disappeared, I can't find it anywhere on the lot. Any idea what is going on? Is this a typical "haunt" in the game? Or is something messed up?
