Biggest difference is that Johns' "vision" is being published and Morrison's never will be. |
: I think history is about to repeat itself.
: Seeing the first images of Geoff Johns'
: "Curse of Shazam", it looks like a
: rerun of Judd Winick's "Trials of
: the hoodie costume is the same,
: the name change to Shazam is the same,
: putting more focus on a Harry Potter
: approach is the same.
: It's like Dan Didio and Geoff Johns had a
: meeting and said,
: "Geoff, I don't get those fans... they
: didn't accept Trials... what's wrong with
: "I got an idea, Dan... Let's just redo
: it, with me writing. I'll make Billy the
: central character instead of Freddy... we'll
: even make him look more like Harry Potter...
: give him a pair of Clark Kent's glasses.
: We'll keep the costume red. Definately gotta
: keep the hoodie, though. Hoodies are so
: cool. I'll make it work, whether the fans
: want it or not. Just wait til those fanboys
: see what I do with naughty Mary."
: When "Trials" was published, there
: was another Capt Marvel series at the same
: time, but this one had a very traditional
: take, with a strong link to E Nelson
: Bridwell's "World's Finest" run.
: It was Alex Ross' "Justice". This
: one the fans loved.
: This time around, we are getting the
: "Trials" rerun, "Curse of
: Shazam", and we should also be getting
: a traditional take on Captain Marvel by
: Grant Morrision and Cameron Stewart, the
: Earth-5 Multiversity installment
: Guess which one will be rejected and which
: one will be embraced.
: History. Learn from it, or be doomed to
: repeat it, DC.
