: Thunder is a name used by Black Lightning's
: daughter in the Outsiders.
:
Holy smokes-hows this for weird.I swear I had no idea but while I was looking at a Legion whos-who and there was a female charater named Thunder with the power of Shazam.Looks like she was active in the zero hour Legion.I actually got goosebumps when I saw that! Now I am not sure if I should go buy a lottery ticket or lock the doors and hide under the bed.

: My understanding of this goes back to the
: copyright infringement issues of the 1950s.
: DC won a court victory in 1953 I believe and
: got rights to the character in the 1970s.
: Meanwhile Marvel quickly got the rights to
: the unused name of Captain Marvel. As DC was
: restarting the Shazam comic (could not use
: the name Captain Marvel), they had an issue
: of Superman where he fights Captain Thunder
: to promote the characters with a little
: tongue-in-cheek version.

: Way back there was a Superman story where
: he
: meets a Captain Thunder(I think thats the
: name)who is a Cap marvel substitute.I think
: shortly after the Marvel family
: returned.Does anyone know why D.C. used
: Thunder instead of Marvel and has Captain
: Thunder ever shown up again?
:
:
:
: Thanks-I thought it might be something like
: that.Wonder if Captain Thunder ever showed
: up again? It might be fun to see him meet
: Captain Marvel. For some reason Thunder seems
: like a charater that would work inLegion of
: Superheroes-even if he went the way of
: Ferro-lad.
