: In this series, the Marvel Family’s adventures
: will take place in an alternate Universe,
: separate from the mainstream DCU, and
: although I’ve set this series no definite
: time period, I’ve considered starting it in
: the current calendar year and proceeding
: from there. The first twelve issues of this
: series will cover Billy Batson’s first two
: years as Captain Marvel.
: These stories will introduce everyone to
: Billy, Captain Marvel, Shazam, Ebenezer
: Batson, Sterling Morris, Doctor Sivana, his
: children Beautia & Magnificus, Dudley
: Batson, Freddy Freeman, Whitey Murphy, John
: Malcolm and Tal Chotali and will team
: Captain Marvel with Police scientists Jim
: Barr and Susan Kent, alias Bullet and
: Caliber, and Alan Armstrong, a.k.a. Spy
: Smasher, and how Billy’s parents died will
: also be revealed. Many of the other
: villains, especially the Black Magician,
: Sabbac, Ibac and Flameshot, will also be
: introduced during this period.
: Year Two is when things begin to kick into
: high gear with the introductions of the
: Lieutenant Marvels, Captain Marvel Junior,
: Mary Marvel, Tawky Tawny, Uncle Marvel, Joan
: Jameson, Mister Mind, Aunt Minerva and Black
: Adam. This will also be about the time the
: title changes from “The World’s Mightiest
: Mortal!” to “The World’s Mightiest Mortals!”
: The end of year two and beginning of Year 3
: will culminate in a four-part story called
: “The Twelve Labors,” wherein Billy, Mary and
: Freddy lose the ability to become the
: Marvels due to the machinations of Ares, the
: Greek god of war, and Shazam’s former
: apprentice, a demi-god named Oggar, and
: bring back Black Adam. Year three will also
: introduce King Kull, Georgia and Junior
: Sivana, Chain Lightning, Mr. Atom and
: Freckles Marvel into the Fawcett Universe.
: From Year 4 on, the stories will further
: define the Marvel Family’s corner of the
: Fawcett Universe.
: About the Author
: Former Californian Cynthia Finnegan was
: hatched eight days after one of the great
: American tragedies, the assassination of
: President John F. Kennedy. She sites several
: of her creative influences as being Otto
: Binder, C. C. Beck, Rumiko Takahashi,
: Mercedes Lackey, CLAMP, Hiromu Arakawa, Kurt
: Schaffenberger, E. Nelson Bridwell, Jim
: Butcher and Don Newton.
: Blanket disclaimer for this proposal: The
: ideas expressed in this proposal are my own
: ideas of how I think the Marvel Family
: should be handled, and are neither steeped
: in nor connected to the current continuity
: of DC Comics.
: I claim absolutely no rights to Captain
: Marvel or the characters associated with
: him. Those rights, unfortunately, belong to
: DC Comics. The only characters I actually
: own in this are James Carlisle, Caitlin
: O’Riordan, Flameshot, the Scorpion and a few
: of the other supporting characters (©
: Cynthia Finnegan, 2009).
: I offer my thanks to C.C. Beck, Bill Parker,
: Otto Binder, Mac Raboy and Marc Swayze for
: creating such “marvelous” characters for me
: to terrorize.
