It should be seen historically there is only one superhero that has any equality to Superman, that is Captain Marvel, both series tried to one up each other and Captain Marvel sold more copies than Superman. But, as Superman was the first superhero, there will never be a time when ANY other hero becomes superior to Superman, at least in DC comics' mind, in my humble opinion.
Therefore, as long as Superman is around, he will always be written as the superior being. But, as in the JLA story, I believe Captain Marvel has a place as the most pure and "good" character.
As Captain Marvel now is the new Wizard, then I think that the new Captain Marvel, Freddy, will no doubt be a further removed character that Superman will step all over. But, we will see.
My hope was that DC would honor Captain Marvel by moving him into the magical universe to fight the bogey type monsters. This would allow the comical element back into the comic that made it so popular and yet leave the Marvel family a powerful force that the Superman family couldn't take care of.

: I got a question:
: If Supes was vulnerable to magic, and
: Captain Marvel is powered by magic,
: shouldn't Captain Marvel whoop Superman's
: booty all those times they fought?
: I mean, Billy magically turns into Captain
: Marvel when he says "Shazam!"

: Talk to me!
