With Billy, I'd go back to his roots by making him a reporter for WHIZ-TV rather than a newscaster. He's a smart, savvy and ballsy kid. Cap himself would be Billy as an adult, as both Beck and Binder had stated many times. Freddy Freeman and his grandparents would be introduced early on, but Freddy wouldn't become Captain Marvel Junior for nearly a year and a half AFTER Cap gets his start. You'd also find out, early on, that Billy's twin sister, Mary, was kidnapped at the age of 6 months and that the Bromfields adopted her not knowing this. Mary Marvel wouldn't show up 'til a couple of months after Junior. Uncle Dudley would be included as Billy and Mary's real uncle, and Billy's legal guardian. He'd play "Uncle" Marvel mostly on his TV show. Mr. Tawny would be in it, but as a flesh-and-blood tiger evolved to a quasi-human state by a well-meaning old hermit. He'd be portrayed as an "everyman" because he isn't fully human. Hoppy would be a animatronic puppet created and built by Dudley. That's all. Sivana is evil incarnate. The worst of the worst. He'd think nothing of killing an underling for forgetting to stock up on his favorite cognac, or a certain trio of kids for getting in his way. He's a functionally insane uber-genius with an all-encompassing rage towards a world that shunned him. And his two younger childern, Georgia and Thad, Junior, are almost worse than he. Black Adam would die after his first battle with the Marvel Family, only to be revived by Sivana months later. He'd develop an almost obsessive "attraction" to Mary (who, by the standards of ancient Egypt, is an old maid). Other "cheesy" characters, such as Mr. Mind (whose "template" for humanity is Sivana), Ibac, Professor Edgewise, Dexter Knox, Cissie Summerly, Whitey Murphy ("Whitey" is only a nickname) and Joan Jameson would also make fairly frequent appearances. --Previous Message--

Depends on what you mean by "cheese." Since I honor the original Fawcetts and ENB and Don Newton's efforts in the late 70's and early 80's, with a little tweaking here and there, then I guess it would seem "cheesy" to you.
